In the era of Covid-19, high school seniors and their parents are struggling to know how to think about college selection. Some students are simply punting and taking a gap year. This looks increasingly like a reasonable choice. Few consider the cost of a residential college experience a value when classes are being taught remotely. The very value of a college degree is now in question like never before.
But are we really asking the right questions? What is the purpose of education? How do I evaluate whether one college is better than another? Here is a short video I did recently describing three kinds of colleges that might help give parents and students some background to their decisions.
